craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap

i'm recording today to make audition cds for summer music programs (it's NOT band camp, dammit!).  My left hand pointer finger tip is currently sorta numb....i hope that goes away like now.  I dont know if i'm ready to make this recording, i really should have practiced about ten times more than i did over break.  whatever, the damage is done...now i get to try to hide my unpreparedness... wheeeeeeeee

wish me luck,  i need a lot of it.

time to rock this bitch.

I can't believe half of my winter break is totally gone!  It has generally been good except for a few douchebags being lame... Instead of practicing i'm gonna fill out this here survey stolen from stanley.  surveys are clearly a more practical use of time than practicing my viola....yeah

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Moved off campus, started practicing Bikram yoga, got in a car crash, finished a power hour (never again!)
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't even remember if I attempted to make any resolutions last year...for this year? keep the momentum of sucess on viola this semester that I had last semester.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? vi's sis is giving birth this month....
4. Did anyone close to you die? my guinea pig, spike!
5. What countries did you visit? uh...i'm a lame-ass american who's never been outta this crazy place
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? more stability
7. What date from 2005 will be etched upon your memory forever and why? there are a few not good things that I won't forget...mainly in hopes that I won't repeat history
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Taking some big steps with my violaing, and some big steps with my physical and emotional health...the crazy thing is that cj had a part in helping me through all of that...he's incredible!!  haha
9. What was your biggest failure? not always being able to make things work out with people, sometimes you just have to move on, I guess
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? actually, no not really....2005 was the first year since I had pneumonia that I haven't gotten really sick at least once.
11.What was the best thing you bought? hmm...probably my ipod...also got a 300 gig hard drive, a new monitor, both seasons of the oc on dvd...all quality purchases...ha

 12. Whose behavior merits celebration? My roommates who never cease to be there for me and be abso-fucking-lutely  hilarious along the way
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? MOst people know what my answer would be.  We've all moved on...no need to go back there.
14. Where did most of your money go? to food, music or dvds.

15. What did you get really, really excited about? music, seeing apocalyptica on their first date of their first us tour...and again in philly, bikram yoga
16. What song will always remind you of 2005? All of the soundtrack to the oc, because I listened to it way too much...and the Walton vla concerto because it was a big deal to me to start working on it again
Compared to this time last year, are you:
17. Happier or sadder? I guess generally happier, every year I'm taking steps in the right direction towards sanity/happiness/all that jazz
18. Thinner or fatter? thinner, bitches....thank you, bikram yoga

19. Richer or poorer? maybe a bit richer...got more gigs this year
20. What do you wish you'd done more of? bikram yoga, even more practicing, worrying a bit more about myself rather than everyone else
21. What do you wish you'd done less of? smoking, eating, cursing, stuff
22. How did you spend Christmas? with my insane family, and it was good
29. What did you want and not get? meh, there wasn't anything too particular that I wanted..except that I would eventually like to get a laptop
30. What was your greatest musical discovery? There are many good viola ones made, but no one wants to hear about that...other than that...maybe Chromeo or my re discovery of dimmu borgir
31. What was the best book you read? In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and a book of Ray Bradbury's short stories
32. What were your favorite films this year? The new Pride and Prejudice was surprisingly good, Harry Potter 4, The Corpse Bride...i can't remember what came out earlier than that
33. How old did you turn on your birthday? 20
34. What is one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? getting into the music academy of the west...hopefully that will happen this year
35. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? I guess I've moved onto a slightly more preppy aesthetic than ever before...lots of polo shirts, etc...other than that, I tend to just wear whatever looks cool to me that day, which may seem really stupid the next when I look back on it...
36. What kept you sane? kimberly, my mom (surprising, i know), my meds (hey, i'm just being honest...), viola and yoga

37. Which celebrity/public figure do you fancy most? It has been, and always will be, Johnny fucking Depp...hot.
38. What political issue stirred you the most?blah!
39. Who did (do) you miss? michael and stanley because I've barely talked to them, especially this past semester, my bro because he lives a million miles away, and friends who have sorta just drifted out of my life
40. Who was the best person (people) you met?  I guess I knew campion before 2005, but we'd never hung out till last spring...getting to know/baking cakes for/fighting winston's roommates was amusing, as well..

41. What was a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Don't put yourself down because it holds you back...alot.  There are many pearls of wisdom, in the form of general life advice, that has come from cj and that advice is priceless.

i know I'm a huge nerd...but what did you expect?

di8985: indeed
acw22003: im providing the appetite

the day before:

i discover my dad on google earth watching "the last known location of santa" being plotted and live updated...

turns on "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

tomorrow i have my last "final"...it's for conductiing...it's gonna be super easy, so I kinda don't think it counts. I just made a sweet $200 bucks playing this epic christmas gig.  it was totally sweet.

update on life:

-beasted my viola jury AND CJ told me he was very impressed by my progress this semester

-the bro is coming home monday = extreme trivial pursuitage

-i fell on an endtable while dancing....don't worry- i was incredibly inebriated

- Andre champagne is good and cheap...and i heart it very much

-lion's head beer, while very economical (a case of 24 bottles for $12), is not so tasty if you're not already drunk

-i'm still a bikram yoga freak..and I LOVE IT....haha

-i really need to pack right now....but i'd rather spend time bullshitting on xanga....wooo

peace out, bitches

This semester is going by at an all-time high speed.  I've already been sick like twice, written a paper (a RARE occasion for a music major) , had crushes on...EVERY BOY!  haha, and practiced more than i probably have done in a whole semester before...

what is new with me?  i'm glad you asked....
-i'm obsessed with Bikram Yoga (90 minutes in a room heated to 105 degrees...it's heaven)
-for those who would even understand the awesomeness of this: I'm auditioning for the philadelphia orchestra sublist in january (unless I can't get the rep learned...I think i'll be ok)  I'm really stoked
-conducting  class is way less scary than expected
- my IH class has inspired me to read the Bible for the first time (other than in sunday school etc) EVER
-I like burritos...that's not really new
-Lil kim's new album is off the chain
-I have rekindled my love for Dimmu Borgir...over produced, orchestrated, death metal...it's a beautiful thing

on a different note...what's with Stacy London from What NOt to Wear refering to a pair of pants as just a "Pant"  what the fuck does "everyone needs a good basic pant" mean??  Does she mean as long as one leg looks good we're ok?  I'm getting confused!  I'm not going to know what not to wear anymore...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
